The most important factor in your decision making should be how much work you want to, and are capable of doing.  This is extremely important because many time it will cost more to have someone come and install your lights than it was to buy them in the first place.  Don’t start stressing out yet, bathroom lights are easy to install when you are replacing existing fixtures.  Having to create new wiring and mounting for light fixtures in new places is when you should look into hiring some help.  To install lights into preexisting areas, all you really have to do is turn the power off, take the old one out, and install the new one.  There is little electrical knowledge needed.

Shopping for bathroom lights might seem like a tedious task, but when you have a plan and a good idea of what your bathroom needs it’s actually very simple.  Each bathroom is it’s own special room of the house and should be decorated accordingly.  Many people either don’t decorate them at all, or have the same decorations in each bathroom of their home.  The fact that you’re interested in upgrading your bathroom lighting fixtures shows that you’re neither of those!  In this post I want to share what you should be looking at before you head out the door to go shopping.

The next thing to consider is the current and future design of your bathroom.  If you already have a theme going, good for you, stick with it.  If you’re trying out something new, consider whether or not you’ll end up staying with it.  You don’t want to have to change your lights again in a couple years.

If you don’t have a current theme in your bathroom, think very carefully about what you want it to be.  Buy lights that fit your vision of the bathroom, whether it be modern, vintage, contemporary, or whatever.

Upgrading bathroom lights is an easy way to make a big improvement in a small space.  Spend plenty of time in the planning stage so that you’re happy now, and in the future, with your decision.
