Decorate Your Bathroom’s Wall Cabinets To Fit The Room
Author: admin // Category: Home ImprovementsMany homes use wall cabinets in the bathroom to increase storage space, but leave them completely undecorated so that they stand out like a sore thumb. A bathroom wall cabinet should be treated like everything else and be decorated so that it jives with the rest of your interior design. Some don’t decorate their bathrooms at all, which I think is blasphemy, but it really doesn’t take much to get it looking great, and like it was designed with the house. This post will show you some simple ways to get this to work for you.
A coat of paint or stain goes a long way. Many people will buy the cheapest Ikea bathroom cabinets they can and stuff them in there and leave them be. If you want it to look right, paint it to match the rest of the bathroom. Leaving the cabinet the stock white color and having your walls a different color looks awkward, so spend a few hours and get it painted to match.
Crown molding can also work to decorate cabinets very well. Bathrooms are great candidates for a quick crown moulding job since they are so small. They do have a lot of moisture because of the shower, so faux or MDF crown moulding will work very well since they’re less prone to warping. Framing the cabinet with moulding is also another easy way to make it look great.
The problem with spending the time and money to decorate a cabinet is that you’re going to want to decorate the entire bathroom. This isn’t exactly a bad problem, but once you realize how neglected that room has been throughout the years you’re going to want to make some changes. My advice is to do it a little bit at a time, rather than remodeling the entire room. There are worse problems to have, just be sure to stick to a budget so it doesn’t become a debt problem later!
