If there is one place you need to feel at ease, it is in your bedroom. All the elements which make up the decoration of the room combine to create the atmosphere and determine whether you will feel relaxed there or not. Here are are a few things that will help.

1. A Comfortable Bed

Your bed should be the dominant factor in the room and it should look comfortable and inviting, whatever that means to you. You could dress it in one of the latest designer bedding ensembles or leave it with simple bed linen but it must look welcoming and ready to get into whenever you want to sleep or simply relax in your room.

2. Harmonious Colors

A peaceful bedroom is no place for loud, clashing colors. Look to the neutral shades to keep you calm. Consider your walls, flooring, bedding and curtains together when making your purchases for the room as they will cover most of the surfaces and need to work as one. It’s not that they need to be the same color but the colors must complement each other.

3. Rounded Corners

You will find that sharp corners reduce the flow of the room so choose round bedside tables (perhaps covered in table cloths to soften the effect further) or at least bedside chests with slightly rounded corners. You can also enhance the smooth flowing lines with the bed itself by choosing an upholstered bed or something like a sleigh bed if you prefer wooden furniture.

4. Softness

Add soft elements to your room to enhance the overall feeling of relaxation and comfort. If your white bedding ensemble looks too crisp, add a soft cashmere throw. If blinds at your windows are too severe, add flowing dress curtains or valances. An inviting easy chair with a few cushions and a blanket can do much to make the atmosphere of your bedroom inviting if you have the space.
